Navigation closed on the Canal Latéral à la Loire

Affected departure bases:
All routes to or from Dompierre-sur-Besbre and Plagny

On the upstream section, the significant presence of aquatic plants between Dompierre and Le Guétin, combined with water supply issues on the Canal de Roanne à Digoin, is degrading the canal’s water supply conditions.

On the downstream section, between Le Guétin and the Maimbray lock, the situation is also constrained because the minimum required flow on the Allier River at the Lorrains water intake has been reached (the flow rate below which it is no longer possible to draw water without endangering the local fish population).

In this context, navigation on the entire Canal latéral à la Loire will be closed from Monday, 29 June, until the end of the 2026 navigation season in October.

Restriction on the Nantes-Brest Canal

Affected departure bases: Glénac, Saint-Martin-sur-Oust

Due to the drought, the Saint-Martin-sur-Oust departure point is closed until further notice.

1. Nantes–Brest Canal
Morbihan sector (from Glénac toward Malestroit/Josselin): Navigation is currently closed starting at Lock No. 19 (La Maclais).

Loire-Atlantique sector (between Redon, Sucé-sur-Erdre, and Nantes): Water levels limit the draft to 80 cm, making navigation possible only for part of our fleet.

2. Ille-et-Rance Canal (between Rennes and Dinan)
Since the clearance under certain bridges is limited, this section is accessible only to part of our fleet. We will work with you to confirm the feasibility of your route based on your boat’s dimensions.

3. The Vilaine (between Rennes and Arzal)
Great news: Navigation here is completely smooth and free of technical constraints.
