Crom Castle: Irish architectural heritage. As you sail along Upper Lough Erne, you will come across this little architectural gem. Crom Castle consists of two parts: the first dates from the 17th century and was built by a wealthy Scottish landowner. Destroyed by fire in 1764, the original building is now in ruins. The second building is the reconstruction of the castle, carried out in the 19th century. While this part is now privately owned by the Earl of Erne, the ruins of the old Crom Castle are open to visitors, so don't hesitate to stop by.
