Buzet-sur-Baïse
Wine lovers won’t leave the port of Buzet-sur-Baïse without enjoying a tasting at the Buzet Winemakers' Cooperative Cellar. Its winery, home to more than 4,000 barrels, and bottling line are open for guided tours. As you depart Buzet-sur-Baïse to begin your boat rental, take in the scenery: the Buzet vineyards stretch along both sides of the Baïse River.
Sérignac-sur-Garonne
Stroll through its arcaded square and admire the twisted bell tower. A peaceful and picturesque stop.
Agen
Arriving by boat, the 539 m canal bridge offers stunning views of Agen and the Garonne. Explore medieval streets, the splendid Musée des Beaux-Arts housed in Renaissance mansions, Cathédrale Saint‑Caprais, and the Jacobins church. Food lovers will delight in pruneaux d’Agen, foie gras, local wines, and regional specialties available in the markets and restaurants.
Valence d’Agen
This pretty town, shaped by water from the Garonne and the canal below, features three beautifully restored washhouses. Explore the Place Nationale with its arcaded houses, or see the dovecote at Place du Colombier. If you’ve rented bikes, consider a 4 km ride to the nearby Château de Goudourville.
Moissac
A stop on the Camino de Santiago, Moissac is famed for its Abbey of Saint-Pierre and its sculpted cloister. Taste the local AOP Chasselas grapes, hand-picked since the 18th century. Departing Moissac, your boat will cross the stunning Cacor canal bridge, built in the mid-19th century from Quercy stone and Toulouse brick.
Castelsarrasin
Moor your boat at the Jacques-Yves Cousteau marina and stroll through Castelsarrasin’s historic center. This town, the second-largest economic hub in Tarn-et-Garonne, has preserved its religious and architectural heritage, including the Saint-Saveur Church, medieval streets, colorful windows, and flower-filled gardens.
Montech
While Montech enchants with its 15th-century Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation in pure southern Gothic style and its old brick and half-timbered houses, the town is best known to boaters for its famous “water slope.” This boat lift replaces five locks. Even though it is currently out of service, don’t hesitate to stop there to discover this one-of-a-kind structure.
